School of the year
The apprentice training school for the Laborers union includes extensive classroom, dormitory and laboratory facilities both inside and outdoors.
Each of the 15 Indiana trade unions that work with the Leadership Development Institute has its own apprentice training program. Some of the unions have more than one campus. The current school of the year is the facility of the Indiana State District Council of Laborers and Hod Carriers.
The main building includes:
- Administration offices.
- Commons area with 60-inch TV and fireplace.
- Cafeteria that seats 80, with full kitchen service.
- Dorm rooms - 60 individual rooms.
- Full laundry service.
- Boardroom/classroom with seating for up to 40.
- 24-hour security.
- Outside barbecue grills.
- Library/classroom seating for 30 with TV/VCR.
- Gymnasium, full-court basketball - can be used for inside activities during bad weather.
- Recreation room with pool tables, a ping-pong table, personal lockers and a volleyball court.
The satellite building includes:
- Total maintenance shop.
- Hazardous waste worker support building.
- Excavation lab with classroom - allows for hands-on indoor training.
- Air-tool lab with classroom - allows for hands-on indoor training.
- Pipe/mason tending support building.
